Ride Report - Lunch Ride to Lancelin

11th August 2019It was a nice, clear morning for the ride, but a minor M/C issue for one rider (his bike wouldn't turn over) delayed our departure for a bit. Luckily, a jumpstart pack got the engine running, with no further issues for him. A short break in Gingin, after riding through Chittering & Bindoon, & we were back on the road to Lancelin, with a minor detour off Cowalla rd. to inspect the local Farmland. Once back on track, we arrived in Lancelin to find the café of choice was Closed for reno's? (Ed. Note: DON'T believe what's on the website. Ring the Destination to check if they'll be open when you arrive!) Thankfully, the Endeavor Tavern's bistro was just opening up, so we had a good feed & gasbag outside on the Oceans edge. After lunch, a few riders headed off  for prior commitments, while The rest popped over to the Dunes for a photo op. One of the group found that Slow speeds, sand of variable depth, & a road bike with street tyres & steering rake don't mix well, resulting in a very low speed tip-over (M/C indicators are designed to break easily, aren't they?). A bit of duct tape applied to the "faulty" part, & all was good to go again. The prior advice that a booze bus was set up just south of town, on Indian Ocean Drive, turned out to be false – or they'd bagged their limit for the day – as it was an uninterrupted ride on to Old Yanchep Rd., with a cool drink/ice cream stop at the Gravity Discovery Centre on Military Rd. From Neaves Rd. In Wanneroo, we dispersed off to our own final destinations,With memories of another enjoyable ride. See Y'all next ride. Chris M.
